You are driving along the road and realize that you need to fill up your tank. You pull near the closest gas station and take a look at the sign with the large numbers telling you the cost per gallon… You wish you never looked and want to keep driving.
If you’re anything like us, then this is almost a weekly occurrence. Prices fluctuate and you feel like you are constantly searching for the lowest prices in your area. You want to make the fuel last, but you’re unsure of how to do that.
We would like to offer some tips on how to be more fuel efficient.
While we can’t do anything about the prices, we can do what we can to help you drive more efficiently so that you can get more for what you pay.
-
Did you know that driving aggressively such as speeding and rapid acceleration or braking can use more gas that if you were to drive a constant speed when you should? Just like it takes more energy for you to be aggressive, it works the same for your vehicle. So be aware of your driving. Be mindful of the speed limit, accelerations and braking. The road and your wallet will thank you.
-
How healthy is your truck? Did you know that if you keep your truck well tuned and keep up with maintenance, that your vehicle will be more fuel efficient? Regular oil changes, filter changes and basic maintenance at your auto body shop will not only lengthen the life of your vehicle, but it will also help the fuel efficiency.
-
If your truck is in need of any specialized repairs, try not to put it off. The reasoning above applies the same here. If you can keep your vehicle in great condition, the health and life of all parts will be extended and more efficient.
-
Man, it’s hot in here… Did you know that if your vehicle is parked in the hot sun, that your gas can evaporate? If possible, try to park in shaded areas away from direct sunlight so you can prevent larger amounts from evaporating.
While we cannot do much with prices, these are just little ways you can get the most out of your gas. By taking small steps to be more fuel efficient, you are saving money, and who doesn’t want that?
Remember, be mindful of your driving. Keep your vehicle healthy and in tune and park in the shade when you can. Your vehicle will be happier. Your gas tank will be happier. And you and your wallet can be happier.
